Well the grand-daughters have gone home, the Spouse is back to work and I had the house to myself this morning. Until I fetched the Ma in Law. She's been sleeping at the Baby Bro's but spending the days here. Last week we heard that the first-time buyer at the end of her moving chain has gone on holiday. And when she gets back the buyer for MiL's house goes away. It's so infuriating. It's not as if we started this right in the holiday period. If the solicitors had got their fingers out during the first two months of nothing-happening, everyone could have been moved by now. /rant
Been to garden centre and bought seeds for some winter veg. Never grown any winter veg before. Should be interesting. My instinct is to pull up everything that needs protection and leave everything else to cope with the frost, ice, snow, rail, hail, wind and fog. I suspect I may need to do a bit more with cabbages.
My earliest-flowering climbing rose has begun its second flush of flowers, the tomato plants are producing lots of fruit but the indoor ones seem too prone to blossom root rot. I shall change varieties for next year, at least for inside. Spouse pickled his beetroot from the garden, this weekend. He's very happy. It doesn't take much. I think we'll have enough peas to last all winter, and we've a pile of blueberries to get through.
Have discovered the name of the plant that flowers with upright stems/spikes of wavy white flowers. Because of the line of the spike, we call them Meerkats. Apparently they're lysimachea. I'll never remember that. Meerkats it is, then.
I have finally finished crocheting the bedspread for MiL in a horrible pink and cream combo. It's come out well, she loves it. So good going, I think. Now I can settle down to making other stuff. Baby stuff.
I did mention my half-baked grandson? Of course, I did.
In addition to the other things wrong with me, I now have 'orrible toothache. Got an infection, nearly finished anti-biotics, not noticeably improved. Worried now. Am now taking even more tablets. No wonder the pharmacy has a habit of running out of stock when I submit my prescriptions. (gloom) Oh and this time, it seems I broke their computer system. Just by existing, I think.
I'm off to drink my tea, nurse my tooth and get lost in a good book. Octavia Butler, I think.
